Liposuction for Men
Liposuction for men is a great option for men who have put in all their effort to dieting and exercise, but still have certain areas of fat that won’t budge. It is not uncommon for men to feel insecure in their appearance, as they too are held to certain beauty standards present in our beauty-obsessed society. If, even after trying other methods, you feel insecure about your appearance, liposuction for men is a contouring tool, rather than a weight loss method, that can work wonders. Liposuction is a relatively safe procedure that can shape the body to produce a sleeker frame. Once the results are visible, the procedure can improve a man’s self-esteem and give him the confidence that he may otherwise be lacking.
What does Liposuction for Men Entail?
It is important to emphasise that liposuction is not a weight loss technique. As such, liposuction for men does not remove fat from the entire body, only localised areas. However, once these localised fat cells have been removed with liposuction, the body will not replace them. As such, this procedure is a long lasting way to sculpt the body. Areas that liposuction for men can sculpt to create a smoother more lean appearance include, the knees, buttocks, inner and outer thighs, hips, stomach, waist, back, and chin.
There are different types of techniques used for liposuction, depending on the case and the patient’s aesthetic goals. Likewise, liposuction can be performed under either general or local anaesthetic, and can be an outpatient or an inpatient procedure, depending on the case.
The first technique, liposuction surgery, is when your surgeon will insert a narrow tube through a small incision. After this, a saline solution is used to break up the fat cells so that they can be removed through the tube. The second technique, laser liposuction, is less invasive than liposuction surgery and has a faster recover time. The procedure works by melting the fat cells in the targeted area with a laser, which as a result reduces the amount of suction needed. Lastly, coolsculpting, also referred to as lipo-freezing, freezes away the fat in the targeted area. This method is often preferred, as it does not involve any needles, surgery or general anaesthetic. Moreover, there is no downtime after this technique is used.
What do I Need to Know After Liposuction for Men Surgery?
There are always possible risks or side effects involved with any surgical procedure. It is important that you discuss the risks and side effects with your surgeon before having the procedure, so that you are aware of symptoms of which to be wary.
Once your surgery is complete, you will need to take at least two to seven days off from work to recover. It is normal to experience some pain and discomfort for the first few days after surgery. Likewise, you will experience bruising, swelling for up to four weeks after surgery. It can take up to six months before you will be able to see the final results of your procedure. After your liposuction treatment, don’t hesitate to consult your surgeon with any concerns you may have.
